In February of 2002, a discussion came up on the biling-fam mailing list about how it can be difficult to acquire words specific to babies in a non-native language. As a result of that thread, this is a collection of lists in various languages intended to help with that problem. These pages are very rough right now, I'm just putting them in place and will format them and try to fix accents later. Suggestions, corrections, additions are welcome; remove spaces and send email to biling-fam @ fluxcapacitor . net.

The biling-fam list compiled similar information in August 1998. Here is their list of words to include, in case it helps anyone compiling a list. As I locate the original lists from that time frame, I am putting them here. These lists are a collective effort of the Bilingual Families mailing list (biling-fam@nethelp.no) and are not for commercial use.

German (the 1998 list plus comments from related threads)
German - Alex Wilms' 2002 list (might look odd in Netscape, I hope to edit it soon)

Janice Amrani's 2005 Hebrew list

Russian in Word Perfect format, or check the bilingual supplies page for an html version of the same list if you can't open Word Perfect docs

Spanish, or if you have trouble viewing the accents, try this one, which uses e' for the accented e (for example)
Carolina Roselló's 2005 European Spanish lists: Part 1, Part 2 - added 4/4/05 (Word doc format, I will try to make html versions as time allows)
